We had a birthday celebration on Sunday night, we found the food to be very grossly over cooked and some of us had them cooked until they were burnt. The hot plate was not cleaned properly and you had black pieces through your food.

The buffet cabinets were not kept full and were empty most of the time. Nobody was keeping an eye out for the empty cutlery tray, you had to keep on asking someone to get them for you.

We booked our party of 10. It is likely that none of us will be back. For the price, it was not an enjoyable experience.

Made a reservation via this website. On arrival to the restaurant they hadn’t checked their bookings so were unaware we were even coming! Luckily their was room for us! We had been to the one on the north shore so expectations were higher than the service we received here at Lincoln rd! Food was average, drinks were average and staff were average. The cooks were average tho, yet they went from raw food to serving up cooked food… Not good when meats like chicken and pork were cooking!

Love this place, you get a very warm welcoming feeling as soon as you get inside. The food is beautiful and fresh the salads are so yummy especially the mash hmmm yum lol..The atmosphere is awesome azzz..it’s very comfortable and the staff are very friendly..they tell you where everything is straight away, they tell you to help yourself to the jugs of water at the bar.. it’s really good, best restaurant I’ve been to..they have so much room everywhere..The bar is awesome as well everything blends in together.

Been here twice with my family and both times have been great , the staff were friendly and the food cooked on the BBQ was delicious and the other buffet station is good also , the dessert was ok
they had different flavours of Ice-cream, pancakes and biscuits , there’s also a bar and the seating arrangements were good . Overall it’s a great restaurant and I would definetly eat here again :-)

It was pretty good. Yum food and pancakes with ice cream for dessert. I like how for the stir fry, you choose what goes in. And there is also a another station for warm foods e.g fried rice, chips, spring rolls, salad etc…
Good seating arrangements. Bar for drinks. And expect to wait for your food. It’s a hot plate frying buffet so be patient.

I found that the warm food buffet, wasn’t really warm and the rice dishes that were provided on that buffet were half cooked. There was also this potato salad, too eggy. And I wish there were more options for veges to fry and more meat provided. We arrived around 8pm and there wasn’t much left for us. Although, there was already two big groups of people eating there. Dessert was OK. Two pancakes served, sauces, ice cream (choc. Vanilla. Strawberry. Cookie cream.) and sprinkles. I asked for Micky mouse pancakes and was given them. Pretty cute :)

I wouldn’t really go back, only for like family/friends gatherings.

I’ve been to Whangarei’s restaurant and it was my first time. They are way better than this. So I obviously had high expectations and I’m a bit disappointed.

You choose what you want…the cooks will fry it for you!

Have been twice with family and friends on the weekends(Peak times), clean and well stocked with food, buffet all you can handle…fasted all day to get my money worth, you have to wait 5mins to get thru to the cooking part but its all part of the experience

Unless you know what you are doing regarding mixing your food/oils/sauce suggest you ask the cooks whats the best or go off the menu poster, take your time and take note on what you mix vs taste to get what you like, I prefer less oil to burn off/ get the BBQ feel type of style

Dessert/pancakes are a nice touch to finish off, overall one of the best bangs for your buck in Auckland with a “I made it, they cooked it type of feel to it”

Came for dinner this evening and the staff were friendly and helpful but disappointed overall with the food. The make your own meal cooked on the BBQ was tasty, however the buffet poor. 90% of the buffet choices are cheap, basic Western foods like chips, mashed potato, salad etc. and the ‘hot’ food selection was luke-warm and stale – the dinner rolls and garlic bread were not even cooked properly, and the spring rolls were stale and chewy.

We rang before going to check they could cater for vegetarians and were told vegetarian meals were cooked on a separate grill, however I stood and watched as the chef cooked mine on the same grill right next to beef and seafood, and this was after I told him it was vegetarian.

I did enjoy the little pancakes for dessert which are made fresh.

We did see staff eating chips while walking around on the job a couple of times, and thought the place could do with a bit more atmosphere. Overall I was a bit disappointed as I was not expecting to pay $25 (plus extra for drinks) for things like chips and salad that I can get anywhere and these types of items do not exactly scream authentic Mongolian!

Tried this branch of Gengis a month ago & have been back three times since. Feel like I’m being a traitor to my usual Gengis in New Lynn. Excellent atmosphere & hospitality, staff are friendly & accommodating.

Excellent food & bar, location is pretty cool, we went to work off our dinner at Gengis by playing ten pin bowling next door.

Highly recommend any Gengis Khan Restaurant, always a fantastic time.

As with all new places it was clean and fresh. Good variety of food and although the seafood salad tasted a bit funky to me, the rest was nice. The satay sauce was hot and spicy and was not like any satay I had tried before (and I don’t like hot and spicy). Only real disappointment was the `pancakes` which were more like pikelets they were so small and thin. Wait for them was long too. Good meal for their opening special price of $21.50
