We found the atmosphere and service very good. Our mains were fine – we ordered small plates – the highlight was probably the duck gow gee dumplings (very tasty) and the downside were the crab cakes which were too wet and not as tasty as the other dishes. The side of fries were excellent. I couldn’t recommend the chocolate creme brulee though – good top but the texture was wrong, moussey rather than custardy and grainy where it should be silky smooth (but if you’re a chocoholic you may not mind). Didn’t much care for the lemon curd dessert that my daughter tried – an assembly of components that didn’t seem to come together. All in all of the dishes we tried we would recommend the gow gee dumplings as definitely worth a try.

Really nice food. I would consider the food to be on the expensive side for the small portions. We actually left hungry and went to McDonalds afterwards.

Worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant. Very poor service. Rude staff ! The manager was no better ! I along with my friends will never eat there again. Our glass of coke arrived half and hour after ordering them on a quiet day. The only good experience was the food but it was in no way worth the trouble.

Great to find a place in Napier serving local coffee – we walked past quite a number of other places looking for somewhere that did offer a local bean. The whole grain toast with marmalade was good, fruit platter generous and with plenty of yoghurt, and nice fresh pastries. Coffee well made, lots of photos and memorabilia of interest to peruse, and plenty of newspapers to read over breakfast. Nice toilets and spacious dining area. A few small things let the place down – in particular I never leave feeling the same about a place that charges a surcharge on a public holiday, whereas one that doesn’t stays in my mind as a place I will look forward to returning to. But as a breakfast destination, this works well.

Nothing special, nothing wrong, the food is ok, but nothing spectacular, beautiful place to be, ok service, and good deserts, lamb cooked well and so the steak but still magic is missing

Outstanding service, meals and just a wonderful experience for all the family. Keep up the great work team. Especially making us welcome and getting us seated and ready to go.

Fully recommend the salmon and lamb dishes, can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.
