Curry Village does not honour the serice they are offeing fo Bartercard Trade customer finding an excuse, than they ofer you to pay 50/50 on Barter and cash than suddenly it is all 100% on Cash, not good for the business this is a Fair and Trade Issue…. It was a late time for Lunch and just few people having Lunch in There… I will say they are money greedy….So be careful when you are going there on Barter….
And another thing when you are going out with friends or colleague you want to be let in peace and not to in a group of visible guests that are oten to that restaurant stalking, Bullying and Harassing and Calumnying people that are coming to enjoy they day, this is not a niice atmosphere to be…

For you information it is mentioned in our barter card policy that you must book before you come and also mention that you are paying by bartercard. As you mention that we are money greedy you would yourself know that this is not real cash money. We buy every item…    More »

By far the best curry in the Wellington region. I eat there regularly and always feel completely satisfied.

The portions are really big, one meal could easily feed two people.

The flavour is amazing. I’m going to keep eating here until I find a place that can match taste.

I eat there on a regular basis, and in particular the Corma Chicken (hot), which is absolutely delicious. My only 2 complaints are 1: the chicken is way overcooked – (minor complaint). 2: I have made them aware of this many times, but they have done nothing to remedy this – (major complaint).
It is a shame as the Corma chicken sauce is so good, I’d love to taste the chicken as well.
The $12 lunch deal is hard to pass by. For that you get a small main with rice, nan bread and a soft-drink.
I have no doubt restaurants like this one would take off in a big way if their staff only realized how many customers say nothing never to return, whereas the few that let the Curry Village know how to improve – are ignored!
I doubt if they have ever bothered to read a review with the intent to learn from them.

Curry Village is a wonderful restaurant in Porirua. Myself, family and friends go there on a regular basis.

Fantastic options for vegans and vegetarians. Small – but cosy, clean and friendly staff.

Highly recommended :)

March 25th, my mother’s 71st birthday, 18 people, pre-booked. Service was lax , inattentive, extremely slow. Tables booked for 6pm. Finally had to request menus at 6.32pm as they hadn’t offered them. 16 ordered the banquet, 2 had European meals which was the reason we visited them. EntrĂ©e finally arrived at 7pm. Yummy!. Samosas best I’ve ever had. Quantity small for such a large group. Mains finally arrived at 7.43pm after enquiring twice as to when they would. European meals : Lamb rack, tough inedible sent back. Sirloin steak ok. Banquet: butter chicken YUM, beef rendang tough chewy, lamb vindaloo tough chewy, vegetable korma poor-ok ( seems to have been based on mixed frozen veg) butter chicken yumm. Will I go there again? – NO.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review. I do remember that there was a little wait for your group to all arrive and that is why we did not take the orders straight away. Next time, just let us know if some guests wish to order before everybody arrives…    More »

Have ordered takeaways with this restaurant a number of times and although their food is tasty and still really hot when it gets home, they could do a lot to improve their phone manners. Maybe some customer service training on phones wouldn’t do them any harm. This happens most times I rang Curry Village to order a takeaway but the last call I made to them, the lady who took my phone order was quite rude and made it quite obvious that she was exasperated (loud sighs) with my (not hard) questions about the meals I was ordering. I duly cancelled the order as was quite hacked off at her rudeness.

The food came out far too fast to be freshly cooked. When I got my butter chicken I knew it was going to be too sweet and was right, it tasted like chicken in warm tomato sauce. Dreadful. Also their phone rings so loud in the restaurant which doesn’t help the already minimal ambiance.

An excellent restaurant with good food and service. It is the only Indian restaurant my family and I go to in the area.

I have been going to the Curry Village since it opened, over 10 years ago. It is without doubt the best curry in the Wellington Region. You get a very tasty meat filled curry at reasonable prices and the variety of breads is great, hot and very tasty.

Over the years I have introduced many friends and family to the Curry Village and they too have become regulars.

If you have not been there yet, I challenge you to try it once. I am confident that if you do, you too will become a regular like me.

For the best taste of India in Wellington, try the Curry Village and I will see you there!

My husband and I are very keen on curry and have tried most of the curry restaurants in the Wellington area. Although most of them are acceptable, the lack of meat in the curry seems to be the constant complaint we would have. Paying $15-$20 for a bowl of gravy is such a disappointment.

This is not so with the Curry Village. If you want a decent tasty meat filled curry, then you should try this place. Instead of getting a bowl of gravy, as with many other places, at the Curry Village you are treated to one of the best curries, if not the best in Wellington.

I would say, once you have tried the Curry Village, you will not be satisfied anyway else. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and the best curry in Wellington – well done!

Great food and service

Really surprising, could be one of the best curry places in Wellington with it’s good food

If it moved it’s location from under the canopies to a more hospitable place, then I reckon it’d be up with the big boys in the Wellington curry scene

WARNING – Eating at this place can be highly addictive.
Are there any other words you may think of apart from awesome, fabulous, mind-blowing, marvelous, incredible for this very restaurant. Been to ‘n’ number of curry houses in the UK, Australia and NZ. For me, as a customer it beats it’s competitors by a fair margin. I am now spending 35% of my weekly income on an average at this place. March on guys!!

My cousin and I decided to go to Curry Village after watching a movie. I was absolutely pleased with the service, and the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was the BOMB I’d recommend people dine there whenever they get the chance. I plan on taking my Mum there for her belated Mother Day’s gift.

We’d booked a table for seven people and added four extra at the door as we met some friends. The staff were very accommodating in arranging tables etc, even though they were busy.

The food was good, I shared butter prawns and prawn balti, both were very tasty, although we needed more rice than was served. The starter platters of bahji, spring rolls and samosas were no outstanding, but presented nicely.

A good all round curry place for a weekday treat!

I had a Butter Chicken, it was nice and creamy. Low light had to be the rice that came out with it, (they had a deal on with a curry, naan and rice) it seemed old and crunchy. :C

We love this place as our local curry resturant. Been probably 5 times and the service as always been A1 with a smile.
Prompt service and great food and good portion sizes. As the other review said the garlic naan is great. Jasmine rice has always been fluffy and great and they have always given more on request. Always had a good time there.

Well the first time I tried to get indian delivered to my house and when I rang up Curry Village they said they DON’T deliver. Seems like to me they are misleading the public with their website. Be better off going somewhere else!

After watching a movie we decided to treat ourselves to a nice curry. This restaurant was the closest. I had the Beef Masala and friend had the Chicken korma we ordered entrees as well (Mixed platter for 2) which were all very delicious and generous servings. I recommend you order the garlic & butter Naan the best I’ve tasted anywhere. Service was great and the atmosphere very ethnic, warm and friendly. Definitely visit again. :)
