Latest experience not good and I wont be returning. I went in for Fathers day, we booked in at 1pm with the family. Got seated put our orders in and waited…more waiting…drinks empty 30mins later…tumbleweed…other families waiting as well….a couple got their food, and they ordered 30mins after us. I asked what was happening and waitress disappeared..came back a while later (it was 2pm now) and we were told the chefs have said it will be at least another 10mins before they get to our order! it wasnt very busy. The Waitresses looked like they were having a great time chatting at the bar and not much action happening in the kitchen either. Other families had to go and find someone to take their order. We left, went down the road to the Pickle Jar, put our orders in and 10mins later voila awesome food and for way less cost….cafe 162 is dead in the water I reckon. If I was an owner of cafe 162, I would be really worried about locals walking out the door hungry an hr later! once the locals stop supporting this place, its all over rover…
At $28 I expect a bit more….
Café 162 offers casual dining (cutlery in a basket/ paper serviettes …) but the prices are on the high side for a “restaurant” of this type.

Service was poor. Left waiting 30 minutes after seated (in a restaurant that was not busy) before drinks order taken and had to ask for water.
Poor value for money.
This place has had bad reviews on here and I think it’s pretty unfair that no one has written how good it is. Cafe 162 has never sold itself as or pretended to be a restaurant. It’s a Bar/Cafe and they do a really good job. I’ve eaten here and never had a problem. The Chef is friendly and she pops out to say hello. The big breakfasts are huge and really tasty, their OP steaks are mean and their Lamb Pie is really good.
You can’t please everyone but I reckon these guys do a great job and needed some positive feedback on here. Cheers guys, Jacob
